Return Policy

Returns, cancellations, damaged products, incorrect orders, and refunds

Effective date: September 14, 2026

This Return Policy applies to purchases made from Second Signet LLC through https://secondsignet.com. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions and should be read together with our Shipping & Payment Information.

1. All Sales Final After Shipment

Because Second Signet cannot verify a product’s storage, handling, environmental exposure, integrity, or chain of custody after shipment, products cannot be returned for resale.

Except for eligible claims described in this policy or refunds otherwise required by law, all sales are final after an order has shipped.

This policy applies to opened and unopened products. Returned research materials will not be placed back into sellable inventory.

2. Order Cancellations

A cancellation request must be submitted through the Contact Us page as soon as possible.

If an order has not been processed or shipped, Second Signet may cancel it and issue a refund to the original payment method.

Cancellation is not guaranteed once processing has begun. An order cannot generally be canceled, modified, redirected, or refunded after it has been transferred to the shipping carrier.

Second Signet may cancel an unshipped order for inventory, payment, verification, fraud-prevention, pricing, legal, regulatory, or compliance reasons. If Second Signet cancels an order after payment, the amount charged for the canceled product or order will be refunded.

3. Eligible Claims

Second Signet will review timely claims involving:

  • A product that arrived broken, leaking, visibly damaged, or otherwise compromised during shipment.
  • A missing item.
  • An item that does not match the product ordered.
  • An incorrect quantity or product strength.
  • A label, lot number, product identity, or documentation discrepancy.
  • A broken or missing seal when a seal should have been present.
  • A product that appears materially defective upon receipt.
  • A documented product nonconformity that could not reasonably have been identified through visual inspection at delivery.
  • A refund otherwise required by applicable law.

Submission of a claim does not guarantee approval, refund, credit, or replacement.

4. Claims That Do Not Establish a Product Defect

The following, by themselves, do not establish that a product is defective:

  • Dissatisfaction with experimental results.
  • Failure to achieve an expected research outcome.
  • Results obtained using an unvalidated or inappropriate research method.
  • Improper preparation, storage, handling, equipment, calculations, or experimental procedures.
  • Comparison with information from an unrelated product, supplier, sample, batch, or lot.
  • General claims found on social media, discussion forums, or third-party websites.
  • A change in the purchaser’s research plans or product requirements.

Second Signet does not guarantee research outcomes, biological effects, experimental performance, or suitability for a purchaser’s particular research design.

5. Reporting Shipping Damage, Missing Items, or Incorrect Items

Claims involving visible shipping damage, leakage, missing contents, an incorrect product, an incorrect quantity, or another issue reasonably discoverable at delivery must be submitted within three calendar days after the recorded delivery date.

Submit the claim through the Contact Us page at https://secondsignet.com and include:

  • Order number.
  • Name and email address associated with the order.
  • A clear description of the issue.
  • Photographs of the shipping box or mailer.
  • Photographs of the carrier label.
  • Photographs of the internal packaging.
  • Photographs of every affected product, vial, container, label, seal, and lot number.
  • The quantity received.
  • Any other information reasonably necessary to evaluate the claim.

Claims submitted after three calendar days may be denied when the issue should reasonably have been identified at delivery, except where prohibited by law.

6. Reporting a Latent Product or Documentation Discrepancy

A discrepancy that could not reasonably have been discovered through visual inspection at delivery must be reported promptly after discovery and, when reasonably possible, within 90 days after delivery.

The purchaser must stop using or transferring the affected product and provide reasonably available supporting documentation.

Second Signet may request:

  • Photographs of the product, label, lot number, packaging, and remaining contents.
  • Storage and chain-of-custody information.
  • The date the discrepancy was discovered.
  • A description of the research or analytical method used.
  • Instrument, calibration, preparation, and testing information.
  • A complete, unaltered laboratory report.
  • Information identifying the laboratory and tested sample.
  • Confirmation that the tested sample came from the reported lot.
  • Return of an unopened product from the same order or lot when legally and safely appropriate.

Failure to preserve the product, packaging, documentation, and chain of custody may prevent Second Signet from adequately evaluating the claim.

7. Independent Laboratory Results

If a purchaser believes independent testing demonstrates an identity, quantity, purity, or other material discrepancy, the purchaser must provide the complete laboratory report and reasonably requested chain-of-custody information.

A result from a different testing method, sample, vial, or laboratory does not automatically establish that the entire lot is defective. Analytical results may vary because of sampling, preparation, equipment, methodology, reference standards, product form, moisture, salts, excipients, mixtures, or other factors.

Second Signet may consult the testing laboratory, request clarification, arrange confirmatory testing, or investigate other products from the same lot.

Second Signet is not responsible for third-party testing expenses unless the testing was authorized by Second Signet in writing before the expense was incurred.

Nothing in this section prevents Second Signet from taking corrective action when reliable evidence indicates a material product discrepancy.

8. Preserving Products and Packaging

Keep all affected products, vials, containers, labels, lot information, shipping materials, and carrier labels until Second Signet confirms that the claim is closed.

Do not use, reconstitute, open, alter, relabel, transfer, discard, or ship an affected product unless Second Signet provides instructions.

The carrier, insurer, testing laboratory, or Second Signet may require inspection of the original product and packaging.

Failure to preserve reasonably requested evidence may result in denial of the claim, except where prohibited by law.

9. Claim Review

Second Signet may review:

  • Order and payment records.
  • Product and lot information.
  • Photographs and customer communications.
  • Tracking and delivery information.
  • Packaging and fulfillment records.
  • Certificates of analysis and laboratory reports.
  • Storage and chain-of-custody information.
  • Prior claims associated with the purchaser, account, address, payment method, or household.
  • Other information reasonably relevant to the claim.

We may contact the purchaser, shipping carrier, payment provider, supplier, or analytical laboratory when reasonably necessary to investigate.

Claims involving suspected fraud, altered documentation, substituted products, loss of chain of custody, or prohibited use may be denied and may result in account suspension or refusal of future service.

10. Available Resolutions

If Second Signet approves a claim, we may provide one or more of the following, as appropriate:

  • Replacement of the affected product.
  • Replacement of a missing or incorrect item.
  • Store credit.
  • Partial refund.
  • Full refund of the affected item.
  • Full refund of the order when the entire order qualifies.
  • Another remedy required by applicable law.

Unless applicable law requires otherwise, Second Signet will determine the appropriate resolution based on the circumstances, available documentation, product availability, and nature of the problem.

A replacement is subject to inventory availability and may be withheld until the claim investigation is complete.

11. Returns Require Authorization

Do not mail or ship any product back to Second Signet without written authorization and return instructions.

Unauthorized returns may be refused, destroyed, or handled according to applicable safety and legal requirements. Receipt of an unauthorized return does not guarantee a refund, replacement, or store credit.

If Second Signet requires a return for an approved claim, we will provide instructions and explain who is responsible for return shipping.

Second Signet will pay or provide authorized return shipping when the return is required because of a verified Second Signet fulfillment error or an approved product claim, except where another arrangement is required by law or agreed upon in writing.

Returned research products will not be placed back into sellable inventory.

12. Non-Returnable and Ineligible Situations

Except where applicable law requires otherwise, returns, refunds, credits, and replacements are not available for:

  • Change of mind or buyer’s remorse.
  • Accidental orders not canceled before processing or shipment.
  • Changed or canceled research plans.
  • Failure to review product descriptions, quantities, or specifications before ordering.
  • Products that no longer meet the purchaser’s research needs.
  • Products used for a purpose prohibited by our Terms & Conditions.
  • Products that were opened, reconstituted, altered, relabeled, transferred, consumed, administered, or used.
  • Products improperly stored, transported, handled, prepared, or disposed of after delivery.
  • Damage caused by contamination, mishandling, freezing, excessive heat after delivery, inappropriate storage, or failure to follow applicable laboratory practices.
  • Damage occurring after delivery.
  • Minor cosmetic differences that do not materially affect product identity, quantity, packaging integrity, or research condition.
  • Disagreement with an expected research outcome.
  • Unauthorized third-party resale or transfer.
  • Claims lacking reasonably requested documentation.
  • Claims involving a product, lot, or sample that cannot be reliably connected to the original order.
  • Claims submitted outside the applicable reporting period when the delay prevents reasonable investigation.

13. Lost, Stolen, and Delivered-but-Missing Packages

Claims involving packages that are delayed, lost, stolen, or marked delivered but not received are governed by the Shipping & Payment Information policy.

A missing-package report is not treated as a product return and does not automatically qualify for a refund or replacement.

The purchaser may be required to complete a carrier inquiry and provide reasonable supporting documentation.

14. Refused and Returned-to-Sender Packages

Refusing delivery does not automatically cancel an order or create a right to a refund.

Packages returned because of an incorrect address, refusal, failure to collect the package, failed delivery attempts, or incomplete verification are governed by the Shipping & Payment Information policy.

Where a refund is approved, Second Signet may deduct original shipping charges, return charges, address-correction charges, and other nonrefundable expenses caused by the purchaser, except where prohibited by law.

15. Refund Processing

Approved monetary refunds will be issued to the original payment method unless applicable law or the payment provider requires another method.

Refund processing time after issuance depends on the payment provider and financial institution. Second Signet does not control how quickly a bank or payment provider posts a refund.

Original shipping charges are nonrefundable unless:

  • The entire order was damaged or incorrect.
  • Second Signet determines that reimbursement is appropriate.
  • Reimbursement is required by applicable law.

Store credit, when issued, will be applied to the purchaser’s account and will be subject to any terms disclosed when the credit is issued.

16. Payment Disputes and Chargebacks

If you believe an order or charge is incorrect, unauthorized, damaged, or undelivered, contact Second Signet promptly through the Contact Us page so that we may investigate.

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable right to dispute a payment under applicable law or payment-provider rules.

Second Signet may provide relevant order records, purchaser representations, customer communications, tracking information, delivery confirmation, photographs, verification records, and claim documentation to the payment provider when responding to a dispute.

Fraudulent payment activity may result in order cancellation, account suspension, or refusal of future service.

17. Research-Use Restrictions

All products offered by Second Signet are intended exclusively for lawful in vitro laboratory, analytical, and scientific research.

Products are not intended for human or animal use, consumption, administration, injection, diagnosis, treatment, mitigation, cure, or prevention of disease.

No return, refund, replacement, store credit, customer-service response, or claim resolution authorizes a use prohibited by the Terms & Conditions.

Second Signet will not provide refunds based on dissatisfaction with results arising from human use, animal use, self-administration, or any other prohibited use.

18. Non-Waivable Rights

Nothing in this Return Policy excludes, restricts, or waives a consumer or purchaser right that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or waived.

If part of this policy conflicts with applicable law, applicable law will control only to the extent of the conflict, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

19. Policy Changes

Second Signet may update this Return Policy prospectively by posting a revised version with a new effective date.

The policy in effect when an order is accepted will generally govern that order, except where a change is required by law.

20. Contact

Return, damage, discrepancy, and refund requests must be submitted through the Contact Us page at:

https://secondsignet.com

Include the order number and enough information to identify and evaluate the issue. Do not send a product back unless Second Signet provides written authorization and return instructions.
